Boss points the way forward

Terry Brown admitted the manner of AFC Wimbledon’s Capital One Cup exit was particularly disappointing, but he believes his players can put that defeat behind them against Chesterfield on Saturday.

Speaking to WDON commentator Mike Taliadoros, Terry said: “We want to hit the ground running at the start of the league season. We are limping into it, but I am sure after two or three days of working on various things and encouraging them then we can go again. You have to pick the positives as well as the negatives. You can highlight all the negatives in the world after that performance and try and eliminate the basic errors by looking at the DVD’s, but is my job to pick the boys up by looking at the positives, such as we broke well there and we can score goals. Hopefully, at the start of the season we can play better and pick up valuable points.”

They were the better side, but you cannot expect to give away three goals and expect to stay in the cup. The goals we gave away were incredibly poor and we showed them too much respect in the first-half.” To listen to the full interview, click on
