AFC Wimbledon U18s face a tough test of their progress this season when they travel to Gillingham tomorrow.
The Dons youngsters have shown steady improvement since their opening day loss to Portsmouth and they produced their best performance so far in a 1-1 draw at AFC Bournemouth last weekend.
In an interview for Dons Player, Academy Manager, Mark Robinson, spoke enthusiastically about this season in the Football League Youth Alliance and said the youth set-up have benefited from specialist fitness sessions at Sutton Arena.
“At Bournemouth last weekend it was possibly the best performance from an Under-18s team since we have been professional,” he said. “We will have to change it at Gillingham tomorrow with more of our inexperienced kids as some of the players were away with the development squad at Nottingham Forest during the week and we need to give them a rest. I thought that Gillingham were the best side that we played last year, but we are looking forward to it.”
