Bournemouth left-back signs on loan

AFC Wimbledon have completed a double loan swoop with the addition of Bournemouth left-back Jonathan Meades.

In a busy day at the club with the signing of Jake Reeves having already been announced, we are pleased to confirm that Neal Ardley (pictured) has added 20-year-old Meades, who the Dons boss helped bring through the ranks when he was academy manager at Cardiff City.

Meades, who joined the Cherries in the summer, has signed a two-month loan deal and will go straight into Wimbledon’s squad for the trip to Exeter City tomorrow night.

“Jonathan came through the academy when I was at Cardiff,” said Neal. “A big plus is that he can play in a number of positions. Though he is a left-back, he can also play in midfield, and that is why I wanted him ahead of other players. Jonathan was in the same Under-16s team at Cardiff as Adam Matthews, who is now at Celtic, but a few niggling injuries stopped him getting into the first-team squad at Cardiff.”

Dons Player subscribers can watch a video interview with Jake Reeves and Simon Bassey also provides an update ahead of tomorrow’s Exeter City match.
