Budding young artists wanted for Wombles exhibition
Young AFC Wimbledon supporters with artistic talent are wanted for a unique challenge this Saturday as they will get a chance to paint their very own Womble!
AFC Wimbledon’s Community Dons are helping to create South London’s answer to the Bayeux Tapestry with an art exhibition devoted to Wombles and children are wanted to play their part between 10.00am and 12.30pm on Saturday at Morden Library in Merton Civic Centre, Morden.
The ‘Wonderful Wall of Wombles’ is a banner on an epic scale, celebrating the association between wombles and their traditional role at the heart of Wimbledon. Of course, the banner already includes several versions of our very own Haydon the Womble, but there’s still room for you to come along and show us your own interpretation. The activity is free and open to all and you can drop in for ten minutes or two hours.
This project is a follow-up on from the summer’s highly successful “Paint a Womble” day and the finished banner will be on display at our home game against Aldershot on Saturday, 17 November.
