The Dons in FA Youth Cup

19 October 2012

Home tie against Farnborough for our youngsters

AFC Wimbledon Under-18s have been handed a home tie in the first round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday, October 31.

Mark Robinson’s side will entertain Farnborough at the Cherry Red Records Stadium with all supporters welcome to get behind the young Dons as they bid to do better than last season in the competition. The Dons were knocked out in the second round of the FA Youth Cup with a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Bristol Rovers.

But they have an excellent chance of at least reaching that stage or beyond with a home match against Farnborough, who edged through with a 4-3 win against VCD Athletic on Wednesday.

Academy Manager, Mark Robinson (pictured), said: “It is a prestigious competition if you can make progress in it and hopefully we can do better than last season. It will be great if we can get a lot of supporters along to get behind us in our first round match.”

The Dons will entertain Cheltenham Town or Maidenhead United if they get through against Farnborough.

Entry for supporters for the match will be just £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

The FA Youth Cup match takes place during an exciting week for AFC Wimbledon as Budweiser FA Cup first round ties are scheduled for the weekend after on 3/4 November. The draw for the first round of the famous competition will be made on Sunday at 1.30pm live on ITV 1.
