Get behind our fundraising effort on Sunday

Dons supporters have the chance to line-up alongside an Olympic gold medal winner at our Minithon event on Sunday.

You can get behind our fundraising effort by joining Sophie Hosking at Morden Park (11.00 am start) and our AFC Wimbledon team for the return of the Minithon with money raised donated to charity and club funds.

Our club staff are busy shaping up for the 5km event and Haydon the Womble will be leading the charge, though he will be stopping to meet his younger followers along the way. Club physio Mike Rayner and Erik Samuelson will be among those competing, though our chief executive admits that he does not expect to be at the front of the pack.

“I have been running about four times a week, but the word ‘running’ flatters what I have been doing,” Erik said. “I got a silly injury, but this is not me backing out. I am going to continue my appeal for people to sponsor me, Haydon, or Sophie Hosking. It will be a privilege to trail in the wake of an Olympic gold medalist.”

Funds raised this year will be donated to St Raphael’s Hospice, Born Too Soon (Prem Baby Unit), along with ground safety improvements at AFC Wimbledon.

Just like our first staging of the AFC Wimbledon Minithon two years ago, entrants can walk, stroll or run and babies in buggies can even take part with their families. The fun gets underway at 11.00 am near the bandstand in Morden Park.
