Support our big charity event

AFC Wimbledon will be keeping the Olympic spirit alive on Sunday, 30 September, with the second staging of our Minithon event.

We are delighted that Olympic rowing gold medalist Sophie Hosking has agreed to participate in the 5km fun event – and you can join her at Morden Park in just over two weeks’ time.

Our club staff are busy shaping up for the event with Haydon the Womble leading the charge, though he will be stopping to meet his younger followers along the way. Dons boss Terry Brown, club physio Mike Rayner and chief executive, Erik Samuelson, will be among those competing. It will hopefully be a big charity event for the club with funds raised this year donated to St Raphael’s Hospice, Born Too Soon (Prem Baby Unit), along with ground safety improvements at AFC Wimbledon.

To fit in with the Olympic ideals, we will be promoting sport for all with people of all ages and abilities welcome to participate. Just like our first staging of the AFC Wimbledon Minithon two years ago, entrants can walk, stroll or run and babies in buggies can even take part with their families. The fun gets underway at 11.00 am near the bandstand in Morden Park.

However, you can gain all the details you need about the Minithon, sponsored by Terry’s Badges, if you are attending tomorrow’s Rochdale game as our Dons Trust Fundraising team will be promoting the event. Entry and sponsorship forms, along with an opportunity to sponsor Sophie, Haydon, Erik and the rest of our team, will be available outside the back bar from 1.00pm.
