News from the training ground

Stuart Cash confirmed to Dons Player this afternoon that Luke Moore will be back in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Northampton Town.

Luke has missed the last three matches, but he took a full part in training today after shaking off a knee injury and he returns for our match at Sixfields Stadium.

Rashid Yussuff was also back in full training today, but Saturday will come too soon for him and full-back Jim Fenlon suffered a foot injury at Southend and may not be risked. Curtis Osano and Curtis Haynes-Brown are also not yet ready.

Our assistant manager admitted that his players have worked hard in training to deal with the aerial threat that will be posed by a forward line led by the towering presence of 6 ft 4 inch striker Clive Platt.

They are beatable though, Southend went there and got a draw and they lost at Plymouth last weekend. “It is something that we have worked on today as they are a big side,” Stuart said. “We have to stop balls coming in from their centre-backs into our box and our full-backs have to do better in stopping crosses coming in. We also have to make sure that our two centre-halves are not too deep. It was a positive session though and hopefully we can take that into Saturday.

“The training session today was buoyant and though the result went against us on Tuesday, there were signs that our confidence on the ball is getting better and we can show what we are capable of. If we can get the ball down and pass and eradicate the mistakes we have been making, then we can get something.”

Northampton, managed by Aidy Boothroyd, currently occupy a mid-table slot, just one point above the Dons, but they are expected to be at full strength on Saturday.
