Terry on Rochdale defeat

Terry Brown took consolation from the fighting spirit shown during the second-half of today’s defeat against Rochdale.

I am absolutely gutted. We came in today after a really good week of training with a confident attitude. The boys were really up for it today as we knew this was an important game for us. We started off brightly, got to the ball first and played our stuff early on, but then we conceded from the first cross. It was a poor bit of defending and after that we got involved in an incident by their box and Jack gets sent off. Speaking to Dons Player, Terry praised his side for battling back with 10 men during the second-half. “I have to take the positives from it,” he said. “They are a very good side and for them to be scrapping at the end of the game and holding onto what they had says a lot about the work-rate that we showed during the second-half.

“I have no sympathy for Jack and he will be fined. That had a major bearing on the game and after that we were struggling to get back into the game. We needed to change at half-time and get more players forward. But we hung in there, got balls into the box, and Byron caused them problems. We did not let our heads drop and we can be pleased with our second-half performance.”

Terry added that he hopes to have centre-back Dale Bennett back for Tuesday’s visit of Torquay United.

The full video interview with Terry can be viewed on Dons Player and see tomorrow for an interview with today’s man of the match, Curtis Haynes-Brown.
