Stand-in captain says players must fight for the Dons shirt
Sammy Moore says that now is not the time for Wimbledon’s players to be feeling sorry for themselves, ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Adams Park.
Speaking to Dons Player, our stand-in captain says that his side have to stand up and be counted as caretaker manager Simon Bassey will be demanding that they all give 100 per cent for the Wimbledon shirt.
“It was sad to see Terry and Stuart go,” he said. “Terry brought me to the club and I have the utmost respect for him. What they both did for the club was fantastic. But we have to move on now and Simon is in caretaker charge. We have had a chat about the games coming up and we have to stick together during these tough times and try and get a result at Wycombe.
“Simon has been here for 10 years and he knows what is required. All the players will buy into what he does while he is in charge. In training we could not afford to be too down and we have to move on quickly because it is a tough game around the corner. Everyone is in a positive mood about Saturday and we are confident that we can go there and get three points. I know that the fans will be there in their numbers and anyone who puts the Wimbledon shirt on has to give 100 per cent. Things can turn very quickly in football, Wycombe are struggling a little bit, and we have to go there and try and take the game to them.”
