Seb salutes Simon's impact

Interview with Seb Brown

Seb Brown has saluted Simon Bassey’s managerial skills for creating a “fantastic mood” among the AFC Wimbledon players.

Speaking to Dons Player, our number one believes that Simon’s character lifted the players just when it was needed before the 1-0 win at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

“It was a tough week for us with what transpired after the Torquay match,” Seb admitted. “It was a case of getting everyone’s heads right for the match on Saturday and I think that is what ‘Bass’ did. That showed in our performance against Wycombe. Everyone gave everything that they had and we have a right to feel positive about the future.”

The victory at Adams Park provided Seb’s first clean sheet since the opening day of the season and he praised the men in front of him for doing such a great job. Will Antwi and Dale Bennett played together for the first time at centre-back, while youngsters Jim Fenlon and George Francomb also impressed in the full-back positions.

“Clean sheets are obviously nice for the defensive boys, especially after the games we have had away from home,” Seb added. “We had another back four consisting of players who had not played together as a unit and that is always going to be a difficult one. Defensively, we have been making progress in the last few games. It looked like a good, settled proposition on Saturday and we have Pim (Balkestein) to come back so it will be interesting to see what gives for the Accrington match.”
