Artist requires 'typical' football supporters

AFC Wimbledon has long been famous for having great supporters - and now the club’s fans are wanted by artist Declan Jenkins for one of his artworks!

Declan has been in touch with the club to offer the opportunity for Wimbledon supporters to play the part of a lively football crowd in an art performance later this month.

The first rehearsal takes place tomorrow (Friday) between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm and if you are available, then please e-mail Declan using the link at the bottom of this page.

Declan needs a number of performers for 'Jenkins Ultras', an art performance that will be held at the hallowed Royal Academy Schools at 2.30 pm on Friday, 26 April.

The piece takes the form of a talk delivered by the artist with a 'fans club' interjecting the talk with chants and heckling. The performers will be dressed and conduct themselves in the manner of ‘typical’ football supporters. Large banners will be unfurled and the fans (wearing shirts, scarves and hats with the 'Jenkins Ultras’ logo stitched onto them) will be creating noise with clapping, honking of horns, stamping and singing.

.Wimbledon supportersDeclan is looking to get a group of about 15-20 fans and the majority (but not all) need to be male. Participants will be paid £20 for the two rehearsals and £20 for the performance. The other rehearsal is on Friday, April 19, between 10.00 am and 11.30 am. Please e-mail Declan as soon as possible if you wish to be involved by clicking on

Experience of acting/ an interest in art is preferable, but not essential. In addition to a crowd of Wombles enigmatic Wimbledon flag creator Fleydon Dubois will be producing a banner for the performance and donating a contribution to the We Are Wimbledon Fund.
