Sophie Hosking to attend An Evening With David Weir

Sophie Hosking will make it an extra special day at the club on Friday, March 22, by attending An Evening With David Weir.

AFC Wimbledon supporter and former Wimbledon FC Ladies player Sophie, who won an Olympic gold medal in rowing at London 2012,  has pledged her support for the Dons Trust event, which is sponsored by Mike Richardson.

Sophie, who recently received an MBE, said: “I am looking forward to celebrating David Weir’s success at the Paralympics. David is one of our most consistent and decorated Paralympic athletes and was able to deliver under pressure at London 2012.”

David Weir CBE, who won four gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics including winning the marathon in thrilling style, will be joined at the Cherry Red Records Stadium by his coach Jenny Archer (former Wimbledon FC fitness coach).

Though the 33-year-old, who trains at Kingsmeadow Athletics Centre, has admitted in recent interviews that his life has been transformed by Paralympic success, David has long been viewed as an inspiration for people with disabilities.

On Sunday 21, April, Sutton-born David will bid for his seventh London Marathon success and he has won six Paralympic gold medals during his career.

All proceeds from the event will be split evenly between David and Jenny’s campaign to help more children with disabilities get involved in sport and funds for The Dons Trust.
