Palace prove too strong in nine-goal thriller
AFC Wimbledon Ladies bowed out of the Surrey Women’s Cup at the hands of Crystal Palace after squandering a 2-0 half-time lead.
In a quarter-final clash that was definitely a proverbial game of two halves, hosts Wimbledon marched into the lead through Shannon Lindo (pictured) and Bernice Tully doubled the advantage, but Palace stormed back to eventually win 6-3.
Palace edged back into it just before the hour and added four more in a devastating 14-minute spell. Though Lindo netted her second, it was purely a consolation and the visitors rounded off the scoring in an entertaining cup tie with nine minutes to play.
