Chris Hussey on his return

10 January 2013

Full-back thrilled to be "back home"

We are delighted to announce an AFC Wimbledon return for Chris Hussey and the left-back says that he is a better player now than when he left three years ago.

The 23-year-old signed on the dotted line this morning, though the deal is subject to a medical, after he was released by League 1 Coventry yesterday.

Chris, who made his name with Wimbledon by helping the club to the Conference South title in 2008/09, moved to Coventry, initially on loan, in October 2009. After signing permanently in the following January, he went on to make over 50 appearances for the Sky Blues, but his opportunities have been limited this season.

The attacking full-back (pictured above during the Conference South title-winning season) today joined up with his team-mates at our New Malden training complex and he admitted he was delighted to be back at the club.

Speaking to Dons Player, Chris said: “I could not wait to come home. I could have gone to a higher level club and stayed in League 1, but I wanted to come back to Wimbledon. Last season I played a lot of games at Coventry and after my experiences there I come back as a better player.

"I am a professional though and I want to play games. I enjoyed my time at Wimbledon last time and it is big club with great fans. I want to help get this club back where it belongs as it should not be near the bottom of League 2.”
