Dons extend Meades loan

31 January 2013

Cherries utility player stays for rest of season

AFC Wimbledon can confirm that Jonathan Meades has today signed an extension to his existing loan deal that will keep him at the club until the end of 2012/13.

Meades, who has also been called up to the Wales Under-21s squad for Wednesday’s friendly against Iceland, has impressed manager Neal Ardley with his versatility, playing in both midfield and left-back.

The 20-year-old Bournemouth utility player, who has started all 12 League 2 games since joining Wimbledon on 5 November, says he is delighted to prolong his stay with the Dons.

“I know that Neal Ardley has been trying to get me here for the rest of the season for a while now and it is great to now have it confirmed,” Meades said. “Bournemouth were not sure whether I was going to go back there or not, but they signed another player yesterday and Eddie Howe is now happy with me staying here. I am playing every week at Wimbledon, which is really good, and I have been made to feel very welcome at the club.”

Dons Player subscribers can view the full interview with Jonathan Meades on extending his Wimbledon loan deal later today, along with an update from Neal Ardley.
