Five-star Dons tame Panthers

Jodie Fernandes completes the scoring in style

AFC Wimbledon Ladies recaptured their best form on Sunday by brushing aside Panthers Ladies with five different goalscorers.

Emma Treanor led the charge in just the ninth minute as the Dons marched to a 5-1 victory that boosted their hopes of moving up the London & South East Regional Women’s Premier Division table.

The Dons wasted no time in pressing home their advantage against Colliers Wood-based Panthers with Bernice Tully doubling the advantage five minutes later. A deflected Louise Cooper free-kick made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.

It was a tough second-half battle on a heavy pitch at the Archbishop Tenison’s Schools Sports Ground and Tony Milstead’s side had to wait until 20 minutes from time to make it 4-0 through a Charlie Powell goal.

There was still time for Jodie Fernandes (pictured) to complete Wimbledon’s account on the day with a fierce strike and a late Panthers goal from Mary Dawson was of consolation value only for the visitors.
