Sammy set for cup return

9 January 2013

Dons favourite back in the frame

Sammy Moore could make his competitive return to action in next Tuesday’s Surrey Senior Cup third round tie against Horley Town.

Wimbledon’s 2011/12 player of the season suffered a broken leg in the 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town on 20 October, but he returned to full training for the first time yesterday.

Though Saturday’s visit of Wycombe Wanderers is likely to come too soon for his return, Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley aims to include him in the Surrey Senior Cup tie on Tuesday (7.45 pm start at the Cherry Red Records Stadium).

“Sammy got injured in the first proper match that I took charge, which was unfortunate, and I have not seen him play since,” said the Wimbledon manager. “He will take a while to get up to speed, but we have a Surrey Cup game next week and if comes through a full week’s training, then we might be able to get him some game-time in that match.”

Admission prices will be just £5 for adults and £2 for children to attend the Surrey Senior Cup tie against Combined Counties Premier side Horley Town on Tuesday, 15 January.

Dons Player subscribers can view a full video interview with Sammy Moore after his first full training session with the rest of the squad yesterday.
