Team news for Accrington

Neal considers his options for Saturday

Neal Ardley could be forced into a defensive reshuffle at Accrington Stanley on Saturday if the match goes ahead.

Centre-back Will Antwi (pictured) is struggling to shake-off a hip injury and right-back Curtis Osano (calf) is also doubtful, while Warren Cummings rates his chances of making the squad as “50/50”.

Speaking to Dons Player after today’s training session, which was staged on a 3G pitch at Tooting & Mitcham due to the weather, Neal Ardley said: “We have two or three players doubtful so we will take a look tomorrow at how we are going to play. Looking after everyone in the squad is a big part of what we do. With players struggling to make Saturday everyone comes into the mix.

“As we did when games were called off around Christmas, you have to go for it and prepare as if matches will be on. Otherwise you will be under-prepared if the match does go ahead. We will do a lot of work tomorrow regarding how we are are going to set ourselves up and if it is off, then we will dust ourselves down and get ready for the next match.”

Weather permitting, the Dons boss is expecting a tough scrap at Accrington on Saturday with the Lancashire outfit just four points above Wimbledon after their poor recent run.

“The two away wins we had recently came against teams which pass the ball,” he added. “Whether Accrington will be trying to get the ball down or bombing it forward and picking up the pieces, we will have to deal with that and everything they will be throwing at us. We will make sure our team are aware of everything and hopefully we can continue with the way we have been playing recently.”

In his video interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley also updated us on his transfer plans during the January window. Subscribers to our premium site can also access an interview with captain Mat Mitchel-King ahead of Accrington.
