Weston handed Dons trial

5 July 2013

Centre-back will feature at Dartford

The Dons will tomorrow hand former Cardiff City centre-back Rhys Weston a chance to impress in tomorrow’s friendly at Dartford.

Weston, who was born in Kingston upon Thames but gained seven international caps for Wales because his father is Welsh, is a vastly experienced defender who made 182 appearances for the Bluebirds between 2000 and 2006.

Neal Ardley has decided to offer Weston, who has also had spells at Port Vale, Walsall and Dundee, a trial and he will feature in Wimbledon’s first pre-season friendly at Princes Park.

Goalkeeper Ross Worner will not be risked for the match after tweaking his ankle, but Neal Ardley said he is just being left out as a precaution and the injury is not serious.
