Dave Beasant confirms for Wimbledon Legends team

Dons supporters have an opportunity to see if FA Cup-winning goalkeeper Dave Beasant can transfer his talents to the cricket pitch this Sunday.

The man who saved John Aldridge’s penalty in 1988 (pictured above left with the FA Cup and Neil Sullivan) has signed up to play for a Wimbledon Legends X1 in the club’s annual cricket match at Deando Ruxley CC this Sunday.

First-team manager Neal Ardley, his assistant Neil Cox, and former manager Terry Brown will line-up in the same team as Dave, along with several players from the current squad.

AFC Wimbledon Club Secretary David Charles will also feature, along with Commercial Director Ivor Heller, who will be hoping for a longer stay at the crease this time after his golden duck last year!

Last year’s event was a great success and Deando Ruxley CC will offer another friendly welcome to supporters with a BBQ available and the bar open all day.

The match will start at approximately 1.00 pm on Sunday, following a game involving Deando Ruxley CC juniors.

The full address for the venue is: 27 Ruxley Lane, Ewell, Surrey, KT19 0JB.
