Cardiff striker stays until end of 2012/13
We are pleased to confirm that Jesse Darko’s loan deal at AFC Wimbledon has been extended until the end of this season.
The paperwork on Jesse’s loan extension has been completed before the close of the emergency loan window and he is likely to be included in Wimbledon’s squad for tomorrow’s Good Friday clash at Rotherham.
Since joining on an initial one-month loan deal from Cardiff City on 21 February, Jesse has made one start and seven substitute appearances.
Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley, who worked with Jesse during his time in charge of the academy at Cardiff, believes there is plenty more to come from the 19-year-old striker.
“Jesse probably took two or three weeks to get into the swing of playing in League 2 after moving up from Under-21s football,” said Neal. “But I know Jesse well and I know that when he gets sharper and gets his fitness levels up, then he can be a real handful. I think he has done okay when he has come off the bench in the last few games and I think he still has a big part to play for us.”
