Midfielder departs the club
Neal Ardley today announced that midfielder Huw Johnson has left AFC Wimbledon.
Huw found his opportunities limited during 2012/13 and the Wimbledon manager says he cannot guarantee the 20-year-old will play games next season.
I’d like to thank Huw for his contribution to the club and wish him well in his future career.” We can’t guarantee him that next season and we know that there are clubs interested in him. It therefore seemed best for all parties that he be free to decide where he wants to go to further his career. Neal said: “With the pressures of fighting relegation last season, I wasn’t able to offer Huw many opportunities. At Huw’s age and at this stage of his career, he needs to be playing first-team football.
Huw (pictured above) made his League 2 debut as a substitute in Wimbledon’s final match of 2011/12 at home to Shrewsbury Town and he went onto make 11 first-team appearances in total, including making a first start in the 2-0 defeat at Northampton in September.
AFC Wimbledon thanks Huw for his contribution in a Dons shirt and wishes him well in his future career.
