Speaking to Rob Cornell, Bennett said: “The key for us is having that belief that we can cause an upset. We need to win our individual battles on the pitch and connect as a group to have a chance of winning the game. Hopefully, someone can pop up and produce a magical moment and get us a couple of goals that we need.

“The manager has had us set-up all week and we are pretty clear what the plan is. We have been working hard and I am really looking forward to the game now. There will be some upsets in the FA Cup fixtures this weekend and I just hope that it’s us.”

During his time at Cheltenham Town, the Dons skipper played in FA Cup ties against Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, experiences that he would love to repeat at Wimbledon.

“Going away to Spurs was incredible,” he added. “I did not really touch the ball much and I got a bit of a run around, but it was a great experience. To come up against top players to see what they can do on the ball and how these teams operate is fantastic.

“I remember talking to Stacy Long last season about when he was a part of the Stevenage team that beat Newcastle United. I listened to that match at the time, but when you hear about something like that first-hand you realise it is incredible.”
