“We did not pick up any fresh injuries at Bury on Saturday and we head into a busy spell with virtually a full quota to choose from. We work hard on the training schedule to give players plenty of time to recover after matches so that they are ready to work for times like this.”

It is a sign of progress made by both Wimbledon and Dagenham & Redbridge this season that they are both now in the top half of League 2 nearly seven months after the two clubs were involved in that dramatic final-day relegation battle.

And Simon is under no illusions about the threat that a revitalised Daggers will provide at The Cherry Red Records Stadium tonight.

“We worked really hard in the summer to improve our group and I think we have done that,” added Simon. “I know Wayne Burnett quite well. He is a good coach and he has worked equally hard to improve his squad. Dagenham have a lot of pace in there and they will certainly provide a big threat.

“Our form is good because we have taken seven points out of nine with two of those matches having been away from home. We had a great win the last time that we played at home and we will be looking to build on that going into a tough run of games. We took one point away from Bury and if we can get six points from the next two games then it will have been a great week for us.”

Simon’s interview appeared in full on Dons Player yesterday, along with interviews with Kevin Feely and Michael Smith.
