Fans launch campaign

27 November 2013

Supporters aim to bring the Dons home

A group of AFC Wimbledon fans will launch a campaign in support of the club’s new community stadium proposal this Sunday.

AFC Wimbledon recently announced their plans for a new community stadium back in SW19 on Plough Lane. A group of fans have put together a campaign to highlight the benefits this will bring to local residents, whether they are Wimbledon fans or not. And this campaign will be launched after the club's appearance at the Winter Wonderland event at Centre Court this Sunday lunchtime (1 December).

After Neal Ardley’s speech and Q & A session at 12 noon, the fans will officially launch their campaign by handing out pledge cards outlining the key benefits the stadium proposal will bring to the Wimbledon community residents.

The campaign will also be backed by a website which will launch over the weekend where local residents and football fans will be encouraged to show their support for the campaign.

The campaign’s organisers hope to showcase the level of popular support for the plans to create a new home for the club on Plough Lane, alongside commercial and residential development.

Fans spokesman Marc Jones will be speaking on the day and will be happy to discuss the campaign.

The website will be live by the weekend at www.bringthedonshome.org
