Kaid relishes Dons return

The spirit that lifted Wimbledon into the Football League at Manchester two-and-a-half years ago has been recaptured this week in training as Kaid has been reunited with coach Simon Bassey (the pair are pictured above with Kaid's number 39 shirt) and the forward is relishing his second coming with the Dons after joining on loan from Port Vale.

, Kaid said: “I wanted regular football and once I knew that AFC Wimbledon were interested in me I jumped at the chance to come back. Helping Wimbledon go up provided the best memories of my career. I kicked on with my own career and Wimbledon got back into the Football League where they belong. They were great times and they will stick in my memory for the rest of my life.Dons PlayerSpeaking to Rob Cornell during an exclusive interview for

“I cannot wait to get out there on Saturday if I’m picked. Portsmouth have a massive fan base and it’s likely to be in front of a full house so I’m excited about it.”

Neal Ardley confirmed that Kaid could be in line for his debut and he praised the part that Simon Bassey played in bringing him back to the club.

“Simon heads up all of our recruitment and his knowledge of players is great,” said Neal. “He keeps in touch with a lot of the older players and was aware that ‘Mo’ was not happy. Simon made us aware that there might be a chance that he could be loaned out. When we talked about the shape of the team and the quality we wanted to add, Simon made us aware of the player’s situation.

“When a player like him becomes available with experience in the league and of playing at the level above then we would have been stupid not to jump at it. He has trained all week with us. There is that element that he has not played competitive matches a lot lately, but he is quite a natural athlete and he has trained well. We have been going through some tactical stuff with all of the players and we have made sure that ‘Mo’ is in the picture as regards patterns of play and other stuff that we do. He will be a good addition.”
