Martin helped raise funds for the club to avoid relegation

Many supporters will already know that Martin Fielding sadly died yesterday morning.

Martin (pictured above right with Erik Samuelson) went into hospital after the Scunthorpe game for surgery to remove a tumour and unfortunately never came out. There were ongoing complications and he never really started progressing towards recovery. He died peacefully with his wife Gill at his bedside.

Martin started supporting the club at school when the Dons were in the Southern League. For the past couple of years, he helped run the Blue and Yellow Club as secretary. This club helped raise funds for the playing budget and provided a big boost to manager Neal Ardley last season to successfully avoid relegation. Those of you who knew him will remember his ever cheerful approach to life and the genuine warmth with which he always greeted his fellow human beings. The club will post details of the funeral arrangements when it has them.
