“I congratulated Kaid (picture above by Paul Willatts) outside the dressing room,” said the Dons skipper. “It was a decent return because he won the penalty and made one goal in a 4-0 win. I have seen him do it time and time again at Cheltenham and he absolutely rips defenders apart. If he focuses and listens to our manager, who was a wide-man in his day, then Kaid’s game will come on in leaps and bounds.

“In training, the manager sets out ways of unlocking defences and if Kaid focuses, which I’m sure he will, then he can take his game on another few levels at this club.”

“Momentum is a big thing, but we move on now,” said Simon. “We don’t get too high after a victory or too low after a defeat. Through long hours on the training ground we are heading in the right direction. The consistency will come because the squad is gelling together lovely. We are only looking towards next weekend’s game at Bury and if we can produce an away performance similar to what we produced at Rochdale then that will be perfect for us.”
