Wimbledon manager's post-match verdict

The Dons battled back to earn a draw at Gigg Lane, but Neal Ardley admitted he couldn’t see his side scoring until Luke’s valuable equaliser.

“There is no one more honest and hard-working for the team than Luke Moore,” said Neal. “Luke was left out of the team because I felt that he had played a lot of games in a short space of time and he was looking a bit tired. I left him out to freshen him up, but Luke is a fantastic player to have in the squad. Whatever position he plays in he will do a fantastic job for the team.

“I was disappointed with the performance because we did not pass the ball as well as we can. We did not do enough of what we worked on in training during the week. We worked hard, which is a given, but in possession we were not great. We did not keep possession well enough to get a foothold in the match.”

Neal added that it was a good point at Bury considering Wimbledon were below-par on the day.

“It was a decent point after we conceded. I thought we were poor in the first-half. They got it forward to their two strikers, played a good tempo, and they did not let us settle at any point. But we did not exploit the space behind them. We had worked hard all week in training with our two wingers penetrating by running in behind, but we did not do it. Credit to Bury because their desire was better than ours in the first-half.
