“I am over the moon with the boys because we have trained really well this week,” Neal said. “That has been a theme since we held a meeting two weeks ago. It has been great and hopefully this will show with our performances on the pitch. I am big believer in that you train as you play. In the past couple of weeks the attention to detail and focus from the boys has been outstanding. It is my job and the staff’s job to keep on top of that. If we can do that then I will be more confident that the performances will follow.

“If you cannot get yourself up for a big game like Saturday then you should not be playing the game. For Portsmouth, it is probably normal because it is everyone’s cup final with the fans that they bring to away matches. Guy Whittingham will be used to that as well as his team. For us it is about the three points and we have to ensure our performance levels are high. We need to be focused on every little detail like we have been in the past two weeks and hopefully the result will come with that. We have problems selecting the 18 for Saturday and that is a good thing for me.”
