Sweeney said: “It was quite surreal getting to the final because when you get to the quarter-final and then the semis you do not think it is going to happen. But when it does happen it is something that you will always remember. It was the highlight of my career. The FA Cup provides a chance for players to prove they are good enough to be on the same pitch as those at a higher level. Every season there are a few upsets in the competition and hopefully tomorrow night we can pull one off.

“It will be tough because Coventry are flying. They had their 10-point deduction and they are showing no sign of slowing down since starting their winning run. We will just have to match them. The manager has already told us some key points. The main one is that they work really hard and that is what all good teams do. If we match them in terms of work-rate then we have great quality in the team. We will be going out there to win the game.

“It has been a brilliant week in training after a good result at Rochdale. Mentally that result did a lot for us after the spell we had without winning. Everyone is looking forward to the game tomorrow night.”
