Cooksley, who will turn 19 in November, was signed as an eight-year-old by Reading, but he left the Royals at the age of 16. Following a short spell as a scholar with QPR, Cooksley signed professional forms with Aldershot and he made two appearances for the Hampshire club before leaving at the end of last season.
