Team news for Morecambe from first-team coach

Kevin Sainte-Luce is not yet ready to return for Wimbledon’s final home match of 2013/14 against Morecambe on Saturday.

During an update for Dons Player, Simon Bassey said that that the winger has not yet shaken off the knee injury that he suffered in training two weeks ago.

Wimbledon’s first-team coach also confirmed that Charlie Sheringham has had his loan at Salisbury City extended so that he can play in their final Conference National match of the season at Chester on Saturday.

Wimbledon head into Saturday’s game on the back of a four-match unbeaten league run and Simon says the players are determined to finish this season on a high.

“It’s been a tough five weeks, but the players have been a credit to us,” Simon said. “They have driven on and chased victories from losing positions. I don’t see any reason why they won’t carry that attitude on towards the end of this season. They want to help the team finish as high as they can for their own careers too so we are looking for six points.

“We’ve lost just two out of 12 games and we’re hoping to get six points from the last two matches. The players were back in today and there was no change in attitude. They are looking to finish the season strongly with two victories if possible.”

Though Morecambe visit the Cherry Red Records Stadium without a win in nine games, Simon is expecting a very tough test with Jim Bentley’s side having provided stern opposition in previous encounters against Wimbledon.

“They have some good players and it’s always a tough game when we play against Morecambe,” added Simon. “Jim is a really good lad and I’m sure he’ll have them fired-up. We know that they will be difficult opponents and we will treat them with the utmost respect.”

Charlie Sheringham has rediscovered his goal touch at Salisbury City and Simon believes the loan spell will have been great for his confidence.

“Charlie has stayed on loan at Salisbury and he has scored four goals in seven games there,” Simon said. “Games are what he needed so it has been really good for him.”

Dons Player subscribers can now watch the full video update from Simon Bassey and an interview with Aaron Morris will follow on our premium channel tomorrow.
