Focus on Stevenage in the build-up to 2014/15
It’s just five days until 2014/15 gets underway for Wimbledon and we continue our countdown by focusing on another club who will be aiming to transform their fortunes after relegation.
Manager Graham Westley unsurprisingly decided that wholesale changes were needed after Stevenage finished rock-bottom in League 1 last season.

Though Graham Westley has brought Chris Beardsley and Ronnie Henry back to the club this summer, the man who started Stevenage’s rise has certainly not played it safe in his summer overhaul. Adam Marriott, who scored 45 goals in 42 games for Southern League side Cambridge City last season is one of a crop of players signed from non league clubs, along with Tom Pett (Wealdstone) and Andy Bond (Chester). However, convincing dependable defender Henry (pictured) to return after he helped Luton Town to promotion could be Westley’s best move.
With so many summer arrivals, it might take time for Stevenage to click into gear, but Westley appears to have assembled a powerful squad for next season and they are well equipped to compete at the right end of League 2.
