Surprise call-up for Ben

Team news for Hartlepool match

Neal Ardley has called-up 17-year-old left-back Ben Harrison for the squad to take on Hartlepool United tomorrow.

Harrison, who featured for the first-team in a pre-season friendly at Aldershot (photograph above by Simon Roe), impressed Neal Ardley in that match and the Wimbledon manager says he would have no hesitation in handing him his debut.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “Everyone is fit for tomorrow, apart from Tom Beere, who felt his groin a bit in an Under-21s game the other day. We’ve therefore drafted Ben into the squad. Ben did brilliantly in pre-season and he’s started the season really well too. He will be in the squad for tomorrow’s game and I’m really pleased for him.

“Alan Reeves (Under-21 coach) has had Ben for a few games in his squad and he really likes him. Mark Robinson (Under-18 manager) spoke highly of Ben and that’s how he got a chance against Aldershot. I got to see him in a competitive game against men at Aldershot and he never looked out of place. He trained this morning and did very well and I would have no hesitation in playing him if need be.”
