Captain: fans can lift us

Bennett's call to Wimbledon supporters

Captain Alan Bennett has called for Wimbledon fans to once again show “incredible” support at Adams Park and help the Dons make FA Cup progress.

The defender recalled an away match at Dagenham in February, 2013, shortly after he joined as a memorable moment in his career and he hopes that the Dons can give their following something to shout about this time after a previous league defeat this season.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, Bennett (pictured) said: “The support when we played Wycombe in the league was incredible so hopefully all those fans will get down there on Sunday as well. The feeling I got from that match at Dagenham will always stay in my memory. It’s similar at Wycombe because our fans will be behind the goal again.

“At certain moments, for example when you are defending or attacking a corner, the sense of anticipation and energy flows down from the crowd. Anyone who says it does not motivate you is lying in my book. You cannot help but feel it. I know we always have good support for these games and I cannot wait to hear our supporters on Sunday.”
