Debut for Plough Lane ale

27 December 2014

New ale will be served at Exeter match tomorrow

Wimbledon supporters can sample a new drink tomorrow with the launch of Plough Lane ale at the Exeter game.

Bars manager Mat Ansell considered plenty of good entries from fans via social media before naming the ale, which has been specially brewed for the club.

The person responsible for naming the ale has been contacted and he or she will hopefully be on hand to celebrate the winning entry by sampling the first pint out the tap. Plough Lane ale is a full-bodied roasted malt flavour with a hint of caramel. The session ale (3.7 per cent ABV) also has a smooth hop character and bitterness derived from English hops. The new ale will be served in the middle bar tomorrow.

Christmas Cracker ale will also be served in the middle bar with the popular Hogsback Traditional English Ale (TEA) available in the back bar. Hot Rekorderlig cider will also be served all day.

There will be plenty of Premier League football action on TV screens in the bars tomorrow. The bars will open at 12 noon and we will be showing live TV coverage of Tottenham versus Man United (12 noon kick-off). Doors will open five or 10 minutes before this game for those who want to get in early for it, but drinks will not be served until midday.

Southampton versus Chelsea (2.05 pm kick-off) and Newcastle v Everton (4.15 pm kick-off) will also be shown on TV screens in the bars. The bars will remain open after the game well into the evening for those who want to make a day of it.
