Fuller ready for Bury return

21 February 2014

Neal confirms that vice-captain is back in the frame

Barry Fuller is raring to go once again for the Dons and is in contention for a recall against Bury tomorrow after coming through full training this week.

The all-action right-back (pictured above) has recovered from the knee injury that forced him to come off in the defeat against Rochdale recently. Left-back Callum Kennedy is not yet ready to make a return though as he is still struggling to shake-off an ankle injury and Will Antwi (hamstring) is a doubt.

Vice-captain Fuller’s availability has added to Neal Ardley’s defensive options and he is pleased that there is now competition for places all over the pitch with new signings Michael Collins and Jake Nicholson complementing the return of key players.

that he’s expecting a tough test tomorrow against a Bury side rejuvenated under David Flitcroft’s management as they have lost just once in their last eight games.Dons PlayerHowever, Neal told

“Barry has trained all week and he’s back in contention,” confirmed Neal. “I have a selection dilemma in choosing who is going to play and where to play them. But there’s no comfort in losing three games on the run and thoroughly deserving to have got something from two of those matches. We are desperate to put on a good home performance for our fans because we’ve not done that for a while now.

“We will give it everything and we’ve worked really hard all week on our forward play and increasing our intensity. There are no easy games in this league though. I watched video footage of Bury and they are a very good passing team. If we get it wrong, then they will cause us problems. They play different now and play more football under David Flitcroft. They were better than Accrington Stanley in midweek and caused them a lot of problems.

“On the back of three defeats we have some really tough games coming up, but I am confident that with these group of players that we will more than achieve what we want to.”
