Morris fit for Rochdale

Boost for the Dons ahead of Saturday showdown

Neal Ardley has confirmed that Aaron Morris joined in full training today and he is expected to be in contention for the match against Rochdale on Saturday.

Morris (pictured) was forced off with a groin injury during the defeat at Oxford United, but he has a chance of figuring against Keith Hill’s promotion-chasers at The Cherry Red Records Stadium. Defender Will Antwi is also expected to shrug off a hamstring strain in time to feature, but Saturday’s match will come too soon for Callum Kennedy’s return, though he is making good progress after suffering an ankle injury.

Speaking to Dons Player, Neal Ardley said: “We had doubts over Aaron and Will, but we have monitored them and fingers-crossed they will come through tomorrow and be okay for Saturday. We would like to think that Callum Kennedy will be back training at some point next week. Callum has had an injection in his ankle so hopefully it will settle down and he will be available for selection in the near future.”

The Dons enjoyed their best away win so far this season when they came from behind to beat Rochdale 2-1 at Spotland Stadium in November, but Neal Ardley knows it will be tough to repeat that achievement on Saturday.

“It was a gritty performance from us, but I would not say that we were the better team on the day,” Neal added. “We just managed to dig out a win. It’s difficult in this league to get the ball down and play, but Keith has got that philosophy and credit to him for being brave.

“Rochdale are very good going forward and if you get it wrong when you haven’t got the ball then they will punish you. On the other hand, they do play open and try to get at you so if we do get our defensive side right then we should get chances at the other end. We’ve struggled against teams that make it hard for us to break them down at home. We would like to be better at home, but the points we have got so far all helps towards that final target.”
