AFC Wimbledon old boys could line-up for Newport tomorrow

Simon Bassey today hailed the contribution of four AFC Wimbledon promotion heroes ahead of tomorrow night’s scheduled match against Newport County.

Christian Jolley, Lee Minshull, Ryan Jackson and Ismail Yakubu are all now plying their trade with the South Wales outfit almost three years since they helped Wimbledon into the Football League.

Simon (pictured) said: “They all played a massive part in getting the club to where we are now. All of them are good lads, but that’s football and players move on. I’m sure they will get a warm reception from our fans, they certainly will from me. They all acquitted themselves well when they were at the club and they’re top lads.

“I still speak to them every now and then, especially Christian and Lee. But Ryan and Ismail are good lads too and they all did well for us when they were here. They will get a firm handshake and a pat on the back from me beforehand, but we will be going there for the three points.”

Of course, Max Porter is another former Don currently at Newport County and he’s recently returned to the squad after a long-term injury.
