Charlie Wyke ended an eventful 48 hours with a dream debut against Wycombe Wanderers yesterday and he saluted Wimbledon’s “fantastic” supporters after the win.

The 21-year-old striker certainly made his six-hour drive down from Middlesbrough on Thursday worthwhile with a goal and an assist yesterday.

“It has been eventful for me, but worth every minute, especially scoring a goal and creating one,” said Charlie. “The supporters were fantastic today and they’ve obviously taken a liking to me because I scored. Hopefully, they will be singing my name again. I came here to score goals and help Wimbledon win games and that is what we’ve done today.”

   Charlie enjoyed a fruitful partnership at Wycombe yesterday with Jack Midson, who scored his first goal since September for Wimbledon.
