Club announces exciting link-up with John Green

AFC Wimbledon are delighted to announce a sponsorship deal with award-winning author John Green, who has also gained a worldwide audience for his video blogs on You Tube.

John, who is a big fan of English football, has great admiration for what has been achieved at AFC Wimbledon in the past 11 years and he has agreed to become a sponsor of the club.

John Green (pictured above) said: “AFC Wimbledon is a truly extraordinary football club. Basically, they're the best football team in the world and I want to help them stay in the Football League.”

The 36-year-old’s achievements as a writer of fiction books for young adults include winning the Printz award in 2006 for his debut novel, Looking for Alaska, and he reached number one on a New York Times Best Seller list with The Fault in Our Stars just two years ago.

However, John’s collaboration with his brother Hank to create a You Tube channel in 2007 called vlogbrothers has arguably been even more successful. The channel utilised video blogs as a way of the brothers communicating with each other from different parts of the USA. Since then, vlogbrothers has gained an international fanbase known collectively as “Nerdfighters” and has been involved in charity work.

A key element of the channel has involved You Tube users from around the globe posting blogs of themselves playing video games and vlogbrothers now has over 1.6 million subscribers and 400 million total video views. Recently, John Green created a new FIFA video game team called the AFC Wimbledon Wimbly Womblys.

We look forward to working with John on many projects in the future.”  John’s knowledge of the club is astounding and goes to show what a global reach AFC Wimbledon has. “This has been one of the most exciting and unique sponsorship deals that I have been involved with. AFC Wimbledon Commercial Director, Ivor Heller, said:
