Teams wanted for club competition

The AFC Wimbledon Community Football Scheme has launched another exciting tournament and teams are wanted from the Merton area.

Aimed at boys aged 14-16 (school years 10 and 11), the seven-a-side competition offers an opportunity for the winners to represent Merton in a finals days at the London Soccerdome.

Our AFC Wimbledon Merton Borough tournament is part of a London-wide “Be United” initiative with 10 other clubs from London and the surrounding areas hosting seven-a-side competitions. The clubs, in partnership with the Football League Trust, have teamed up with the Milestone Foundation, which aims to provide more opportunities for teenagers.

The AFC Wimbledon Merton competition will be staged on Monday, 3 February (4.00 pm-7.00pm) at Tooting & Mitcham United FC, Imperial Fields, Bishopsford Road, Morden, SM4 6BF.

These forms must then be returned by post or email).Dons TournamentTeams must be made up of boys in Years 10 or 11 (as of September 2013) who live in or go to school in the borough of Merton. To enter the tournament, the team coach or manager must assemble a squad of up to ten players and e-mail their interest to our CFS team by clicking on 

Entry to the competition is completely free, but limited places are available as we’re restricted to 12 teams. Once registered, teams will receive an e-mail from BE-United setting out the next steps the team must take. The London Finals day takes places on 19 February.
