Join a growing team at AFC Wimbledon

The AFC Wimbledon Academy are looking to recruit a part-time Head of Education to fit in with the club’s philosophy and culture.

The overall aim is to oversee the development and co-ordination of the Football education programme and provisions within the Wimbledon academy structure.

What does the role involve?

Reporting to the Academy Manager on all matters, the role will be essential to the holistic and multi-discipline approach to our player development. The hours of work are flexible but will usually require 16-18 hours per week, which will include some weekend and evening work. It will be important for the successful candidate to positively develop the department in line with our audit report feedback and Football League good practice guide. The main areas of work will be with our U18s scholars (working closely with the League Football Education), developing relationships with schools, overseeing our day release programme for U15/U16 players and delivering an informal education programme for players, parents and staff.

The job holder will sit on the academy management team to report and advise on all education matters at monthly meetings. He or she will also communicate closely with other heads of department to feed into the six-weekly and two annual player reviews.

What we’re looking for?

A self-starter who is motivated, hard-working and devoted to the education of our players. A flexible and pro-active approach is required for the role with a high level of organisation. Experience of teaching and interacting with young people is essential with a strong passion for improving individuals. Staff are encouraged to be open-minded and willing to learn more for their own professional development.

What is required?

Qualified teacher status

Football coaching qualification (preferable)

Valid Safeguarding Children & Emergency Aid Certificate

Driving license

IT Literacy Skills
