Ex-Palace man set to play

11 July 2014

Trialist could feature at Margate

Neal Ardley has confirmed that all of his summer signings are in line to feature at Margate tomorrow – and trialist Matthew Parsons could also play a part.

Matthew (pictured above right) spent four years with Crystal Palace, making six first-team appearances, and during that time he had loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers, Barnet and Plymouth Argyle, where his last game was ironically against Wimbledon in April.

The 22-year-old left-back is one of the trialists that Neal has been looking at during pre-season.

Speaking to Dons Player, the Wimbledon manager said: “We’ve had a few trialists in and Matthew will possibly play a part tomorrow. Matthew is about a week behind the other players in terms of fitness, but he will probably get 45 minutes.

“We have a full squad with the only doubt being Mark Phillips, who has an abscess, but he has been having antibiotics and should be fine. Everyone else is fit, including Bayo Akinfenwa, Matt Tubbs, Dannie Bulman and Sean Rigg. All the new signings will play for 45 minutes. That’s their starting point and our Under-21s will also be involved. It will offer them good experience and give us a chance to have a look at them. We are going to mix it up and we will try to keep the team as strong and experienced as we can in each half.”
