11: Sammy's stunner

18 June 2014

The latest in our kit launch countdown

AFC Wimbledon's new Admiral kits will be launched on Sunday, 29 June and our countdown continues by remembering a quick-fire goal from the club’s longest serving player Sammy Moore.

11 – Beat the clock

It took Sammy Moore just 11 seconds to score from the kick-off at Mansfield in October 2010, laying down a marker for a magnificent evening’s work for AFC Wimbledon as the visitors went on to thrash the Stags 5-2. Christian Jolley sped clear down the wing as soon as the referee’s whistle blew and his cross was knocked down by Danny Kedwell for Sammy (pictured celebrating his goal in this match) to convert from close-range before the hosts had even touched the ball. The speed of Moore’s goal almost eclipsed the 10-second effort from Kevin Gage against Gillingham at Plough Lane in 1984 and was the fastest since the Dons reformed in 2002.
