Kit launch countdown recalls Ian Cooke's goals

The club’s new Admiral kits will be launched on Sunday, 29 June and we continue the countdown with a number that recalls Wimbledon’s triumphant 1974/75 season.

Ray Armfield provided more detail on a Southern League season which saw the likes of Ian Cooke (pictured above with a pennant from the 1976 Anglo Italian Cup Final) banging in the goals.

25 (the number of Wimbledon wins for glory)

Wimbledon powered to 25 victories when winning the Southern League Premier Division title in 1975, despite losing their opening game of the season 2-0 at Nuneaton Borough. The Dons then won 12 and drew one of their next 13 matches, before finally tasting defeat again. Wimbledon finished off the year with eight games in 16 days, winning five of them. Four players – Roger Connell (16), Ian Cooke (14), Keiron Somers (12) and Mick Mahon (10) – got double figure goal tallies in the process, but the defence also chipped in – conceding just 18 goals in 21 tough away fixtures.

.Your AFC WimbledonIn association with Admiral Sportswear Limited, supporters will be able to see the club’s new home, away and third kits, along with training wear, for the first time, on 29 June, at Centre Court Shoping Centre. To view our previous announcement about this, click on
