Auction for transfer funds

18 June 2014

Money raised will go towards We Are Wimbledon Fund

It may still be the close season, but if you hadn’t noticed there’s a certain football tournament in Brazil taking place and Neal Ardley is busy recruiting his squad for next season.

We therefore decided it was good timing to launch the “We Are Wimbledon Fund 2014 World Cup Auction” with all funds going towards the playing budget.

So if you fancy getting your hands on some classic memorabilia signed by World Cup legends Pele and Geoff Hurst or some equally-classic Wimbledon signed mementos, then read on (items on offer are pictured in our gallery above).

. Please send with your bid amount, the lot number and your name, address, plus a contact telephone number. The auction is now up-and-running and will end on Sunday, 22 June at 9.00 pm. If your online bid is the highest at that time – then you’ve won!World Cup Auction Ray Armfield is running another mini auction for WAWF and getting involved in the action couldn’t be easier. Take a look at the six exclusive lots above and if any of them catch your eye then you can bid NOW by clicking on

And here’s what you’ll be bidding for....

LOT 1 – THEY THINK IT’S ALL OVER – IT IS NOW!

Perhaps the most iconic hat-trick in football history, this 20 x 14 colour montage depicts each of Geoff Hurst’s 1966 World Cup Final goals against West Germany. Personally signed at a private signing arranged by a top sports memorabilia dealer and with a certificate of authenticity by the goalscorer, it is attractively framed in an oak-effect frame.

LOT 2 – PELE

The legendary Brazilian’s greatest World Cup moments are captured on this 16 x 12 colour montage. Personally signed at a private signing arranged by a top sports memorabilia dealer and with a certificate of authenticity, it is mounted, framed and ready to hang on your wall!

LOT 3 – WHEN VINNIE MET GAZZA!

Another never-to-be-forgotten moment captured on film, as the Wimbledon midfielder introduces himself to the Newcastle United playmaker in his own indomitable style! A glossy, high-quality black-framed photograph signed by both players, which makes this a very desirable item and a real talking point to show visitors.

LOT 4 – THE AFC WIMBLEDON ‘ORIGINALS’

Dave Fry and Gavin Bolger. A rare item and also comes with the bonus extra of a signed copy of football-based novel ‘The Ripple Effect’ by Dominic Holland (with thanks to Mags Hutchinson for donating the item) An excellent condition leather football signed by 16 of the inaugural Dons squad from 2002/03 – namely record goalscorer Kevin Cooper, skipper Joe Sheerin, manager Terry Eames, Keith Ward, Mehmet Mehmet, Glyn Shimell, Sim Johnson, Danny Oakins, Andy Sullivan, Tony Readings, Lee Sidwell, Neil Robson, Ally Russell, Dave Towse,

LOT 5 – 2013/14 AFC WIMBLEDON MATCHBALL

If you’re looking for something more contemporary, then how about an official AFCW-branded Mitre matchball signed by the entire first team squad before last season’s home game with Rochdale. In pristine condition, this would make a lovely gift.

LOT 6 – ‘BACK TO PLOUGH LANE’ – THE T-SHIRT!

A truly unique lot to finish with, a vintage Wimbledon FC t-shirt from the 1990’s Dons fanzine ‘Yidaho!’ but with the same sentiments some twenty years later, it has been signed by 20 players and staff from AFC Wimbledon and there’s plenty of room for you to collect a few more signatures if you so wish!
