Countdown continues with the name of two Dons heroes

The club’s new Admiral kits will be launched this Sunday at 1.00 pm and our countdown continues by remembering a name that recalls two Wimbledon heroes from the past.

2 – There’s only two Kevin Coopers!

Two players with the same name who were Dons heroes for different reasons came face-to-face at Kingsmeadow in 2003, where the AFC Wimbledon striker would go on to break Eddie Reynolds’ long-held Dons goalscoring record. Kevin Cooper (pictured being congratulated above) struck 66 goals in 2003/04 as the new Dons cantered to the Combined Counties League title. The much-travelled non-league forward would post a final total of 107 goals in 97 Dons matches that is unlikely ever to be bettered. His namesake was a creative wide midfielder and a real fans player, enjoying an excellent relationship with supporters at both Stockport County – where Wimbledon paid £800,000 for him in 2001 – and the Dons, before he was inexplicably sold to Wolves for £1 million a season later.

.Your AFC WimbledonIn association with Admiral Sportswear Limited, supporters will be able to see the club’s new home and away kits, along with training wear, for the first time, on Sunday at Centre Court Shopping Centre. To view a schedule of timings for this event, click on
